Disability Sheffield is a small grassroots disability user led organisation based in the heart of Sheffield. We have a number of projects that run from our organisation including advocacy, information, supporting disabled people who have their own budgets, and many other interesting pieces of work that we do such as training. A few months ago we were funded by the Big Lottery to run a small part of the wider Talent Match programme which is a national programme aimed at young people 18-24 to help them into work or self-employment. What Talent Match haven’t been great at doing is engaging with disabled young people so they gave us the funding to see if we could do better. A couple of young people, Matthew and Jermel joined the project, and alongside some of the stuff they are already doing here, they want to make a video to help other young people get the most out of having a Personal Assistant. We’ve bounced some ideas around about how this might work and we could really do with help from someone who knows about editing films and making them look really cool. Do you think this is something you might be able to help us with? We usually meet on a Wednesday afternoon for a few hours. We can pay expenses etc.
