Storying Sheffield

Three Sheffield poets

For the last few years the University of Sheffield has held a charity event called ‘24 hour Inspire‘. It involves 24 hours of back-to-back lectures, and is aimed at raising money for charities in memory of some of our colleagues who have died. The event began following the death of Dr Tim Richardson. Tim died of cancer at the age of 48; he was an inspirational teacher, an outstanding scientist and a man of enormous warmth, humour and generosity.

In the last two years, we have also run a 24(+) hour radio station alongside the lectures, and in March 2017 Brendan Stone hosted a show in which he interviewed three fine Sheffield poets about their work and about mental health. The poets are Lucy Hamilton, Adrian Scott, and Ben Dorey, who are each also undertaking PhD research at the University.
