Postictal and the Photophobes are a band and art project based in Sheffield/ N. Derbyshire. Their work is informed by the altered states of consciousness following seizures.
Postictal’s new CD is titled ‘A Stomach full of Yield’, a phrase spoken within a postictal state to try and describe the sensation of wanting to be sick, which perhaps unintentionally also invokes suggestions of birth, fruition and creativity.
The sounds, music and words on this CD invoke the oddness of human bodies, the distilled sadness of recalled pain and the remaking of confusion, all of which are shot through with quietly assertive celebrations of desire and agency.
“Last night I ate a tube of yellow paint to try and keep happiness inside”
