MORE INFORMATION
Storying Sheffield is an exciting course based at the University of Sheffield which works with Sheffield people who are not students at the University, as well as with undergraduates.  Participation in the course is free.

The idea behind the project is that everyone has many stories to tell about their lives and experiences, and that these stories are valuable and of great interest to others.  Sheffield is a city rich in stories, and we want people to tell them and to hear them.  Participants choose which stories to share from their lives, and we then work with you to find the best ways to present these, using a variety of techniques and media.  These could include text, audio, video, images, art, and performance.   Experts and University staff will be on hand to guide and assist the production of your stories.

Workshops and seminars will be suitable for anyone, no matter what their previous level of education. We cover a wide range of topics, all related to storytelling.  Themes include: Sheffield and other British cities on film; maps as a way of telling stories; architecture and narrative; performance; poetry; and more.  Seminars are led by highly qualified academics, artists, and others.

You will receive an official signed University of Sheffield certificate for taking part, which you can use in applications for further study, and for job applications.  The course will require a minimum time commitment of roughly 3 hours a week for 12 weeks.   Read more in this document.
