This is a great story!
On Saturday August 8th, The Art House opened its doors for the first time. Situated in the centre of Sheffield, it’s a wonderful space which is accommodating practising and aspiring artists from all over Sheffield. You can also just drop in – there’s a cafe and exhibitions, so you can wander around this beautiful and uplifting building, and just take in the atmosphere.
The building has been completely transformed. It’s spacious, light, and beautifully redesigned. The purpose-built workshop spaces are ideal for creative endeavours of all kinds.
A particular focus of the Art House will be to offer creative opportunities to people who experience social exclusion. So they are offering high-quality art courses to people living with mental health conditions, to homeless people, and others.
Above all, I think The Art House represents a major asset for the city centre, and its story of regeneration and renewal. I really enjoyed walking around the building, having a coffee, and chatting with people I hadn’t met before as well as some old friends.
Do visit and support this wonderful place! Below are details of the summer activities, and Autumn brochure is available here.
