This film was made by Shaun Bloodworth for our ‘Steel Stories’ project. It presents the large scale forging of special steels at Firth Rixson in Sheffield, and focuses on the skills of the men working at the River Don Works at Carbrook. The film features a soundtrack by The Black Dog. The Firth Rixson company was formed in 1996, through the amalgamation of Firth Brown and Woodhouse And Rixson. The company makes seamless rolled rings, forgings and metals for the aeronautical, mining and high technology industries worldwide.

Steel Stories Marking the 100th anniversary of the invention of stainless steel, this project has produced a series of vivid portraits and narratives of the steel industry.
